Nickelback - When We Stand Together (Official lyrics video)

Chad Kroeger and crew are gearing up for the release of their seventh studio album Here and Now which will be available to download in the UK from 21 November. This is the lyrics video (the official of which will follow later this week) for the lead single, When We Stand Together which is already climbing the Billboard Top 100, and currently sits at #48.

Whilst the sentiment means well, the lyrics come across as patronising and preachy, to the point that it sounds like it’s been written as a Band Aid-esque project. Throw in a catchy yet uninspired chorus which tells us that we all win when we stand together, and Nickelback have never sounded more cloying.

I’m usually a fan but this is the kind of rock music that you could imagine Louis Walsh dying to give to one of his boybands to cover. Mainly because it wouldn’t take too much effort, to make it sound any more manufactured than it already does.
