Nas Feat. Amy Winehouse: Cherry Wine (New Single)

Earlier today US hip hop star Nas premiered his previously unheard Amy Winehouse collaboration ‘Cherry Wine’ on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show.

The posthumous release will feature on Nas’ forthcoming album ‘Life Is Good’ and was recorded back in 2008 when the pair were in the studio with Salaam Remi. Another track ‘Like Smoke’ was produced at the same time and appeared on Amy’s ‘Lioness: Hidden Treasures’ album, a collection of tracks released after the singer’s death last year.

As haunting as it is to hear Amy delivering another beautiful track from beyond the grave, ‘Cherry Wine’ is another great addition to her legacy. This isn’t some dodgy track that’s been cobbled together to cash in. It’s a quality track which delivers an effortlessly soulful and instantly recognisable vocal with a totally chilled out vibe.

Amy kicks off the track pining for her love: “Where is he? The man who’s just like me? Heard he was hiding somewhere I can’t see, and I’m alone. And I realize that when I get home, I wanna talk to my Ray and my cherry…”

Nas shouldn’t be ignored either. He Is one of the finest hip-hop stars around and one who always remains very faithful to his typically old skool roots, and his verses seem to mesh perfectly with the late chanteuse.

A gem of a track and one that you can download from 17 July when ‘Life Is Good’ is released.
