New Single: Missy Higgins - Everyone’s Waiting
Australian singer songwriter Missy Higgins has unveiled the second single to be lifted from her third studio album ‘The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle’.
‘Everyone’s Waiting’ was co-written by the ‘Scar’ singer and Dan Wilson, and has already peaked at #31 on the Australian singles chart, beating the #58 position of the record’s lead cut ‘Unashamed Desire’.
Whilst her three year hiatus from the music industry may have knocked her ability to score Top 10 hits in her homeland on the head, the maturity of her writing continues to go from strength to strength.
And let’s not forget that ‘The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle’ entered the ARIA chart at #1 last month, meaning that she is currently tied in second place with Olivia Newton John, Delta Goodrem and Kylie Minogue for second most Australian number 1 albums by an Australian female artist. Only Kasey Chambers has done better with four chart-topping LPs to her name.
‘Everyone’s Waiting’ serves up yet another stunning vocal from the singer and the lyrics deliver what could be interpreted as a devastatingly personal summation of why she chose to take that break following a well-documented struggle to express herself after two massively successful albums.
“And everyone’s waiting / but it’s getting harder to hear what my heart is saying / Cos everyone’s waiting / “Just swallow and breathe”, she says / “Remember this ain’t for you, it’s for them””
The song acts as yet another reminder that Missy Higgins is one of the most underrated talents to emerge from the Australian music scene in the past decade.
If you’d like to hear more, I heartily recommend you download the album which is available on Uk iTunes.
